The calculator that we use for this class is the TI-83 Plus. I do teach you how to use the calculator to check your work; however, you should not be relying on it to perform basic arithmetic. There are enough calculators available for everyone to use one in class only. If you anticipate needing one at home or during your study hall, I would suggest you purchase one. These calculators can be purchased at various stores (Walmart, Target, Office Depot, Office Max, Staples, etc.) I would also recommend the TI - 84, TI-84 Plus, or the TI-84 Plus Silver Edition. The higher the model number can sometimes mean that the calculator is more difficult to use and will have the ability to perform functions that we typically will not use. If you plan to continue the study of math and science in college, one of these higher editions may be the best option for you, but they require much more work to learn to use.
